The MARINEWIND Web-based Geographic Information System (WebGIS) is a multifunctional open tool that provides the various stakeholders with data and available information on Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) for the five Labs of the project – Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the UK – to shape more informed RES policies and promote a better understanding of FOW by local communities.

Today we’re taking a closer look at offshore wind project locations along the Italian coast that have applied for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Over the past few years, the steady rise in EIA applications reflects the increasing interest of operators in this sector. As of December 2024, nearly 30% of all submitted projects are either undergoing or have completed the EIA process.
